NEAT is an English certificate test introduced by the government to substitute the current English test which is focused only on listening and reading.

According to a recent survey from Yoon-seonsaeng English Class, an English academy, of the 780 parents of the elementary students, around 55.8% responded that they know what NEAT is.
The parents who answered they know also knew about details of the test like 'Discussion about replacing the current English test'(54.0% of the respondent, plural answer possible), '7 Universities start introducing NEAT in rolling admission'(34.9%), 'Choose the higher grade after taking 2 times'(30.1%), 'Internet based test method'(28.5%), "Select grade 2 or 3 and apply'(23.5%) etc.

They said that they got information from media source(36.6%) or blog·cafe(34.9%) and 49.2% of them answered positively toward introducing NEAT.

On the other hand, they answered "No" for the actual effect on reducing private education expenses or controlling foreign currency wastes. And 14.2% of them answered yes.

For the improvement, the most selected one was 'Improve the quality of public education to be without private education'(44.4%) and there also was 'Clear guideline suggestion'(37.5%).

By the way, NEAT is already a huge boom so institute classes, developing methods, internet
course, English camp during vacation and all kinds of English education contents are being popular in the market of private education.

Especially, programs for students who are going to take NEAT later are being created a lot more.

Jiho, Park the senior researcher of Yoon-seonsaeng English Class said that "NEAT includes Speaking·Writing section so it is hard to be prepared in short time" and "Should choose the curriculum that is well-designed on speaking·writing, proper to individual's level, and possible to study constantly.

  1. I agree with the parents. I don't think that there will be any reduction in private institute costs. In fact, there will probably be more. Speaking is more expensive to teach than reading and listening.
