Children exposured by Hukushima radiation are 9 times more likely to develop thyroid cancer than non-exposured.

 

WHO predicted the risk of cancer increased.



 

WHO reported that potential cancer patient will be one year old girls who lives in near the nuclear power plant in Hukushima. In last novemver, there was an accident of radiation exposure to people in Hukushima, Japan.

WHO says that they made a report by estimating the level of radioactiviy in residents body,
predicting the people who are exposured by radiaion have more possibilities of breast cancer, thyroid cancer, colorectal cancer and leukemia. Accoring to the report, The worst affected class is one year old girl who lives in Namiemachi, near the nuclear power plant. If there was no accident, the risk of having thyroid is only 0.004%, because of the contaminations by radioactive, they are 9 times more likely to deveop thyroid cancer.

For grown ups, women in her twenties are 10% more likely to develop thyroid cancer, the risk of other cancer also increased.

Accoring to UN's report, after the accident of Chernobyl in 1986, more than 6,000 children got thyroid cancer. People who were exposed by radiaions in Chernobyl, their exposure dose was about 490mSv, according to WHO's report, the exposure dose of people who were exposed to radiations in Hukushima was much lower. (one year old children has 122mSv)
 
Even WHO made a report based on exposure dose, other experts are still suggesting the riskness of low exposure dose, whether it can affect to people or not.
