"why did they work on the road when students were attending school?"

At about 7:40 AM, on 17th September, S girls-high school in Seongnamdong JungwonGu Seongnam, 2 students from the school got crashed by a dump truck on the road in front of their school. Owing to this accident, one girl died instantly, and the other got badly injured.

The cause of the accident is presumed to be the defect of the brake device of a dump truck which was moving dirt from the cafeteria construction area of S girls-high school. The police looked into the exact cause of the accident through the truck driver and witnesses.

Meanwhile, the netizens are demanding the school for an explanation as to why they carried out construction work when students were attending school. The accident named ‘S girls-high school student’s accident’ took the 1st ranking in some portal sites that day, and it still ranks as one of the top issues an one portal site at this time, two days after the crash. There is difficulty in accessing the school webpage.

I went to the accident scene on the morning of the 19th. There were lots of chrysanthemums, letters and some paper airplanes which lamented their friends.

One passerby sighed out "what a poor girl, why did they work on the road when students were attending school?"

This accident will become an issue because it happened on the road where a thousand students and teachers walk to school every day.

  1. That's tragic. There seems to be few safety measures for pedestrians around construction sites these days. Sometimes people need to be saved from themselves. I hope the policies and practices for construction companies are reviewed and that they consider closing off sections that are under construction.

  3. Yeah, it’s a very tragic accident. However, it was even more tragic that an injured person was left behind for nearly 1 hour. In addition, there was an accident similar to this one 4 years ago. So people were full of fury against S high-school’s teachers, because the teachers took the matter too lightly.

  4. Why is the anger directed at the teachers? I don't see their role in this. I can see anger being directed at: the administrators, the construction company, and the local government.
