Kim Byung Man " What I want to say is never give up"

“I got here crawling like a turtle. Someone who becomes a star suddenly is able to relax in the process.  My goal is to reach the destination even I may creep.”
'The Master’ Kim Byung-man (36) is not simply just a ‘funny’ comedian anymore.  He is a symbol of the one who tries very hard.  Because he overcame extremely poor background and tried to compete in comedian tests by force of his dogged perseverance.  Finally, he is a successful star who gets love from a lot of people.
He has published an autobiography. “A turtle with a dream is never tired out.”
He calls himself the turtle in his book and talks about his past, present and future calmly.
Kim, who was born in Wanju, North Jeolla Province, and has one older brother and three younger sisters, had many complexes. His father was an alcoholic after failing his business which left the family huge debts, while his mother barely helped make ends meet by working at a restaurant. He also did whatever he could do, such as a day worker, to contribute to the family after graduating from high school. Only 158.7 of his height even reduced his confidence and made him more of a shrinking violet.

However, he never gave up his dream.  After leaving his hometown, he moved to Seoul and lived in a rooftop house with other aspiring comedians.
He became, in turn, a member of 17th comedian group of KBS in 2002 after failing auditions for MBC four times and KBS three times.
He says "I once went around the pharmacy to collect forty sleeping pills. But on one night when the lights of the broadcasting building in Yeouido were shinning bright, I eventually settled myself down with wailing loudly at the rooftop house in Daebang-dong.
His autobiography explains the story about becoming a star through 'The Master' which was a long term performance of "Gag Concert" on KBS.
It touches us with the excitements from making ideas with his partners and their efforts in order to perform a marvelous show for audiences.
He says "Even though getting bruised or injured is part of a daily routine, a professional comedian should not reveal any of the tension or pain in order to make audiences feel relaxed to laugh.
"I want to show people the quintessence of slapstick comedy through movies, dramas and other media," he said, "Furthermore, I hope I can make the whole world laugh. I know this is the time when I should be trying even harder than when I first set out."

  1. I think that you did more work that you had to. For this assignment, I stated that you only needed to do a summary (not paraphrase/complete translation. However, doing more than required is not a bad thing :-) I obviously didn't make this clear because I'm adding this same message to many of the postings.

He looks familiar, but I don't think I've seen his comedy.

When you are writing these posts, make sure to clearly group your paragraphs. This can be done by adding a blank line in-between paragraphs.

What does this mean, "My goal is to reach the destination even I may creep."?

  3. It means that eventhough he achives his goal very slowly like a turtle,he will continue to work hard for his dream.
