Hamburger Causes More Severe Air Pollution Than Diesel Truck

A study was reported that 'Charcoal Barbecue Hamburger' causes more severe air pollution than large diesel truck does.
According to the press of America, reserchers of University of California Riverside Campus announced that when you grill a hamburger patty, It produces large amount of Combustion Products like oil, exhaust gas, and vapor so it has a bad influence on the air quality.
The researcher of UC Riverside Center for Environmental Research and Technology(CE-CERT), Bill Welch who participated in the study, explained "For example, the amount of emission produced by a sigle hamburger patty is as much as the amount of emission run by the 18-wheeler diesel-engine truck around 230km on the highway."

Researchers also said, it generates lower air pollution substance when patty is grilled by gas than grilled by charcoal fire.
And they pointed out that emission from fast-food restaurants does not have any regulations, and cleared that they are developing device that prevents emission of air pollution substance.
"Our target is to find technique that is realizable and cost-efficient to reduce emission of air pollution substance."

*Summary :
For comparison, an 18-wheeler diesel-engine truck would have to drive 230km on the freeway to produce the same mass of emissions as a single grilled hamburger patty.
