A Fire of Unknown Cause Broke Out at a Shooting Range

The problem is that even if adult are out of the question, caffeine can be poison to children. The level that caffeine bears toxicity is about 150mg/kg for adult, but 35mg/kg for children.

Korea food & drug administration(식약청) indicated that the level of caffeine intake per day for children should be under 2.5mg per 1kg. For example, if a kid that weighs 10kg eats milk with coffee and chocolate a day, the amount of caffeine intake is about 38.14mg and it exceeds a standard amount, 25mg. Caffeine which takes at a time is used up at least 3~4 days later because children, in comparison with adult, lose ability to dissolve in the body. It is more likely to disturb children’s growth because it obstructs absorption of calcium and iron that is included in another food. It has also a bad effect on enhancing memory. The probability of being exposed to stress is larger because it causes a kind of stimulant’s effect. If children are continuously exposed to stress, the production of growth hormone will not go smoothly and cause impediment to growth. Therefore caffeine’s excessive intake is bad for children.

To deal with ‘caffeine addiction’, the only method is preventing children from tasting instant food from the first. From a child, children must avoid eating these foods, have a balanced diet, and eat properly. Parents have to feed kid fresh vegetables and fruits every day and make accustomed to eat milk, bean, tofu, soybean milk etc. It is also good way to make checklist whether or not children’s snack contains caffeine. Parents avoid snacks that designate ‘chocolate taste’, ‘coffee taste’ because these foods contain a lot of caffeine. In addition, it is better to feeding vanilla or strawberry ice cream than chocolate ice cream. If kid already tasted caffeine, parents would reduce the amount gradually and seek substitute foods. Parents can feed beverage made by natural fruits in place of cola and hard-boiled food in place of chocolate.

Obesity is more dangerous to a new flu.

Some research findings have been announced fat people can be more dangerous.

Mun Tae-young, spokesman at the ministry of foreign affairs and trade, prevailed that to participate actively in the stabilization and reconstruction of Afghanistan the government decided to install enlarged PRT in Afghanistan. Also, he reported that as other countries’ PRT self-defense forces for protection of our manpower and facilities and the proper number of police officers and army forces are planned to send to afghan, according to the process of domestic law including a parliament consensus. The main purpose of PRT is to support the overall reconstruction businesses including strengthening capacities of a state administration, setting infrastructure and providing humanitarian aid in a state. It means the government is going to manipulate independent PRT separate from 25 members involved in medical services and vocational programs in Bagram Air Base in Kabul as members of the Provincial Reconstruction Team.

The Size of Dispatch

However, the government has yet to decide how big the dispatch scale is. The administration only revealed the scale of PRT in which at least 130 civil affairs specialists will be included. The government has a plan to send a Korean interagency fact-finding team to afghan in early November after a council of relevant ministries. It is the government position that the size of dispatch could be decided after an interagency team chooses a place where PRT will be installed by consulting with Afghanistan government and NATO because it would be clear what kind of assistance is needed and how bad its public security is.

When?

Korean troops will be dispatched in the middle of the next year. H1N1 alert level is raised to RED

The government raised the level of the H1N1 influenza pandemic to its highest ‘Red’ level. Jun Jae-hee, The Minister of Health, Welfare and Family Affairs (MHWFA) reported this to President Lee during a cabinet meeting.

The H1N1 alert level is divided into four phases - Blue, Yellow, Orange and Red. The government announced ‘Yellow’ level on the 21st of July and maintained this level. Since more than 10,000 new H1N1 cases per day were recorded and people have died, the government finally raised the level to ‘Red’. The government made the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention including the minister of Public Administration and Security and decided to be under emergency work system to prevent the spread of the H1N1.

The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been made for natural disasters such as typhoons and floods but this is the first time to be made for the spread of infectious diseases. The minister of Public Administration and Security is the head of the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other top executives to be responsible for the prevention, response, work control, and integrated management on situation. When the Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention set up, extra Centers for control will be operated in 16 cities and provinces, 230 cities and towns.

In Korea, the fundamental technology needed to generate and distribute solar, wind and water power still needs to be imported here from abroad. To develop new technology that will be able to support renewable energy, the Korean government will raise 111.5 trillion won until 2030. English Man Who Has Loved Korean Traditional House For 20 Years Sadly Lost His Sight

Choi, a wife of kilburn who is a keeper of Bukchon, is telling a story that happened while she was caring and preserving Korean traditionl house at the floor of Korean verandah of Gahoidong, Jongno-Gu, Seoul.

Gahoi-Dong 31-79, Jongno-Gu, Seoul. There is a cozy Korean traditional house which English David Kilburn(66) and Korean Choi Keumok(최금옥) have lived for more than 20 years in the middle of Bukchon Korean traditional house village(북촌한옥마을).

Kilburn came to Korea in 1988, 20 years ago, and was fascinated by this house at the first sight. His wife Choi said “He bought this house as if he had bought a chocolate” and “David has loved spirit of Bukchon(북촌) and Korean traditional house itself where has remained 600 years history of Joseon(조선) and has survived through adversity of Korean modern history” He volunteered as a keeper of Korean traditional house. He used to write in Japanese magazine to advertise Korean traditional house. He also wrote an advertising writing in English in his blog. He invited foreign guests to show them beauty of Korean traditional house. He had centered Korean traditional house and Korean traditional culture in his daily life, coming and going from Seoul to Japan as a freelancer reporter and a marketing consultant.

In 2002, however, as ‘A master plan for caring Bukchon’ enforced, Kilburn and Choi’s life had entirely changed. Once developers started to buy houses, housing prices went up sharply. They also started to remodel Korean traditional house into fake one. Houses that 1st floor was built by concrete, and put a roofling tile on only 2nd floor to use commercially had came being. Now, roofs of Korean traditional house in Bukchon village can't breathe, due to dig in the ground and pour concrete instead of soil under roofing tile. Current Bukchon Village has became ‘Ghost Village’, because there was no resident. We can’t smell make rice at night.

Kilburn couldn’t stand anymore that Bukchon was getting destroyed. He met staff of Seoul and Jongno-Gu and claimed that we should set up a standard for Korean traditional house and make a regulation of extension and remodeling of a building to preserve a original form.

In 2005, he sued Seoul mayor who permitted to build illegally, but he lost suit. Seoul just suggested Ministry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affais make new law. Still, there is no provision to preserve Korean traditional house.

It reported that he like to say “English Government visits and invests old houses which has been more than 100-200 years, and when people want to remove, change and exten it, they will be punished if they observe the rules.”

Kilburn and Choi met misfortune. In February 2006, a poclain came into front house. While he was trying to take pictures of that cruel situation, a developer pushed him and then he fell down. He was given diagnosis of a cardioplegia, and lost his sight after 10 months later.

Last year, it has been 2 years since Kilburn lost his sight, his wife Choi was given diagnosis of an uterine cervical cancer. Choi said “It may be stubborn, we felt sorry that Korean traditional house disappeared, so we tried to hold back it, but we only got diseases.”, and “It is a nation without awareness of tradition and respect for human rights.”

As story of Kilburn and Choi is known to netizens, the number of daily vistors of his blog, Gahoidong.com,(www.kahoidong.com) become over 200. He currently stays in Japan to a medical treatment. When he heard this news, his eye became moisten. Kilburn who can’t see loved Korean traditional house anymore said “ I’m happy because people pay attension to Korean traditional house that nobody cares in the past.”

Learning a foreign language often involves a lot of boring memorization and verb conjugation, except in South Korea where flying punches and killer kicks are part of the curriculum.

More than 40 academies nationwide teach what is known as "Taeglish," where Korean children are trained in Taekwondo by English-speaking instructors who say the martial art gives the students confidence in the language.

South Koreans spend billions of dollars a year on English instruction for their children. The language is seen as a must for entry into a good university and a good job.

"After English is combined with Taekwondo practice, children can have fun learning the language and do it in high spirits," said Kim Sung-han, the founder of Taeglish.

Taeglish, a combination of the words Taekwondo and English, was introduced in March 2007 as an activity offered by a department store for children. In about a year, academies had spread throughout the country.

Taeglish students are far more energetic in the classroom than their peers who study through traditional methods but their language skills are often not as good as their peers.

A recent study shows that marriage between an older husband and a younger wife is more harmonious than that of a younger husband and an older wife.

A serial killer who rapes many ladies and leaves dead bodies in his house is arrested

‘New car effect’ will shake up the auto market

Toyota Motor officially released four models including the Camry and Prius. I think Toyota cars are still more expensive than those of Hyundai and Kia, but consumers may find stronger appeal once the price gap narrows.

As Toyota officially launched on the local market with lower price than anticipated, domestic imported car market is expected to be changed. Recently, a research has announced that, in about 400 years, women’s height will be two centimeters shorter and their weight will be one kilogram heavier. It may sound like a tall tale since women are becoming taller and slimmer these days.

However, Steven Stearns, a biologist at Yale, has been researching 14,000 residents in Framingham, Massachusetts from 1948 to now, and according to his assertion, women are evolving into shorter and heavier figures.

For around 60 years’ research period, the residents’ generation has been changed. With 2,238 women’s data, the researchers adjusted the data for height, weight, cholesterol level, blood pressure, genitalia condition and other elements related to pregnancy.

Based on the survey, rather short and heavy women were more likely to have a baby than tall and skinny women. Furthermore, women with low level of cholesterol and blood pressure could easily have babies. Surprisingly, those features were not directly inherited from one’s mother but one’s grandmother.
With this sort of evolution continuing, in 2409, women will be two centimeters higher and one kilogram heavier. What is more, first pregnancy will be five months earlier than now, lengthening the time of menopause ten months longer.

Professor Stearns said, “What is interesting is that genes affect much more that socio-cultural effect. Biological elements evolve in the direction of amplifying reproduction. ”

Nine Teachers out of Ten are Under Stress

A research shows that nine teachers out of ten are under stress and it affects their work negatively.

The Korean Teachers & Educational Worker’s Union conducted a survey of 2,222 school teachers on the reason and the actual condition of their stress. According to this survey, 90.8% of the respondents are burdened with too much stress and 78.8% of teachers are badly affected to their jobs because of it. The problem is that only 56.6% of them have made efforts to handle themselves under pressure. That is, most of teachers are suffering from stress which has a direct influence on work, but only few of them seek to get rid of stress.

More importantly, 71.9% of those polled replied that they have gone through physical discomforts due to the high-levels of stress. These physical symptoms were found a lot more common among teachers who work in the big cities (73.4%), have big classes (78.7%) and have less years of experience in teaching (73.9%).
Symptoms generally include extreme fatigue, body aches, and headaches, but only 16.1% of teachers sought professional medical help.

With questionnaire asking the cause of their stress, a large number of teachers answered that it was because of the mistaken education policies (41.14%) and some other reasons were their massive works (18.1%) and the conflict with directors (15.3%). In addition, they also replied that the possible solutions to cope with stress were democratic administration of schools (36.4%), assurance of time for research and recess such as sabbatical years (16.48%), and reduction for the routine work (16.22%).

Following President Lee Myung-bak’s warning about a prematurely rosy view for the country’s employment situation, the administration yesterday announced a plan to spend 3.5 trillion won ($3.03 billion) to create up to 650,000 jobs.

“The economy is improving, but the job situation is still serious, we need toplace top priority on addressing this problem.” Lee was quoted as saying duringan emergency economic meeting by his spokeswoman, Kim Eun-hye.
"Some peopleclaim that the job market will improve in one or two years, but it is just anempty promise but a political slogan,” Lee said during a meeting with senior
economic officials.

According to Kim, the president pointed out that employment tends to be a lagging indicator. and he also sought the support of the Grand National Party to approve bills linked to deregulation to nurture the country’s service industry, linking the matter with job creation.

“The president asked the administration to look at the urgency of the issue and come up with diversified job policies. Because the ordinary citizens are still struggling, so it is premature for the government to relax,” Lee said. “We must
continue fighting the crisis by speedily spending state budgets.” she said,

Lee also said Korea’s most pressing challenge is resolving the mismatching amongst the job seekers and employers.

“We need a fundamental resolution to this problem. Like many advanced countries,a tailored vocational training system should be built by linking the academia and the industries,” Lee was quoted as saying, ordering the Education, Labor andKnowledge Economy ministries to come up with a plan as soon as possible.

He urged the governing and opposition parties to expedite government-proposed revisions that would remove or ease outdated regulations in the services industry and thereby help create more work.

The Office of the Prime Minister said the government will continue to inject money into a temporary employment program through next year to create over half a million jobs. As part of the efforts, the government will extend the deadline of the state-backed employment assistant program, which offers 100,000 jobs. The program was initially due to end at the end of this year.

In last August Hangeul was adopted as a writing system of an Indonesian tribe in the Sulawesi area, BauBau city in Buton Island. They have their own tongue but there was no system to present it so their language had been in danger to be extinct. By the adoption, however, it escape from dying tongue.

She refered on the valuation system on teachers in America in an interview. She said every school and step of system in America are following those valuation system by law, and the result of it is linked directly with salary and promotion. France Gives Students Cash!

There is a controversy about a new policy that may undermine the value of education.
On October, 7th, International Herald Tribune (IHT) reported that the French government announced the plan of paying cash to students who study hard.

It is an education policy attempting to increase both low attendance rate and graduation rate.
France introduced the cash incentive policy which gives up to around 10,000 euros per class.
Literally, if a student does well in school, he or she can earn money.

On October 5th, this program went into effect in three vocational schools in the areas of Paris as a trial run for future participating schools.
The students of these schools will set a goal for the average attendance rate; if they attain it, the government will award between 2,000 euros and 10,000 euros per class.

This money can be used for any purpose ranging from driving lessons to school field trips.

Michell Blanche, the representative of Paris school district, said that this support program is a “creative attempt” that violates no moral issues.

However, others disagree.

The first objection questions whether money is the proper incentive to motivate students.

Jean-Jacques Ahjang, the representative of ‘FCPE’, a left-wing parent organization, argued that this program is an abuse of the power of school administration.

Philip Beurangdo of ‘PEEP'; a conservative parent organization, said, “It is not desirable that money becomes the leverage that motivates students.”

An independent group called SOS Education, took it one step further, criticizing the program through a blog by saying that the French government is bribing students with money and is undermining the value of the French Republic.

Regardless of which side is correct, one fact remains unchanged: as the high school dropout rate rises quickly, especially in minority and low-income districts of France, the voice for reform is getting just as loud. Currently, 13% (around 15,000) of the French young are entering the workforce without high school diplomas. Groups of parents of students and teachers will refuse to this examination and they are going to educational experience slated for October 14 ~15. So they are expected to friction with the education authority.

Robert Ramsey who is a professor in the University of Maryland gave a special lecture on the subject of ‘Why we celebrate Hangeul Proclamation Day’ in KORUS house in Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the United States of America on October 6, 2009.

‘Hangeul is better than any other letters in the world’. Robert Ramsey who is a professor in the University of Maryland emphasized over and over again Hangeul’s superiority and a hidden meaning of Hangeul invention, that is to say significant humanism through special lecture celebrating Hangeul Proclamation Day – ‘Why we celebrate Hangeul Proclamation Day’ in KORUS house in Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the United States of America on October 6, 2009.

Prof. Ramsey studied Gyeongsang-do(경상도) and Hamgyeong-do(함경도) dialects in the 15th and 16th century at a Yonsei University and a graduate school of Seoul National University and lectured in the Korean language at Columbia University. He has taught the Korean language over twenty years at the University of Maryland and he is famous as holding a special ceremony annually Hangeul Proclamation Day.

Meanwhile Kwon Myung Won who is exhibiting calligraphy works celebrating Hangeul Proclamation Day showed people writing letters using a writing brush. What a pitiful babies.

It was proposal in candle on the beach that drove sixty green turtles into death.
It occurred on Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.

The problem happened in the end of proposal. This couple came back to their hotel without extinguishing candles.

The postal service administration of the financial department said that Mr. Kang, a mail man, went to Kum-Chun-gu to delivered mail at a house.

Mr. Kang delivered a mail at foreign person who got out of the house, but Mr. Kang felt suspicious about a foreign person, and phoned to A’s, owner of house.

At Chuseok families reunion held on September 26, Lee Jung-ho (76), a South Korean, met his older brother, Lee Kwae-seok (79), taken prisoner in North Korea.

The meeting was the first time after 59 years since Kwae-seok, the eldest son, had missed during Korean War in the 1950s; when he had breakfast with his family and went outside, suddenly he drafted into the army.

Immediately after enlisting, Kwae-seok went home again to tell his family about the news that he had drafted, but that time was last time when he met with his family. After 10 years, in 1960, the family received a letter of announcing his death.

Jung-ho has lived in believing it, but he received a news that his brother has lived in Pyongyang from South Korea government, just three month ago.

Jung-ho believed that if he was soldier, he would more easily find his brother than just a civilian, so he volunteered for the military in 1952, and had served for 12 years until received the news of his death.

Also their mother, died 13 years ago, believed his the eldest son was living somewhere, so she was looking for fortune-tellers across the country to ask her son’s birth and death until she received the news of his death. Drug smuggler in coma after heroin-condoms burst

I found an interesting, but extremely dangerous article. This article says that one guy was unconscious because he swallowed a condom smuggling heroin. I am just curious how he swallowed them and how he was going to do to take them out of his body. Ewww, I don't even want to think about that.

The gang filled condoms with heroin, swallowed them and then attempted to smuggle the drugs, but was caught and arrested. It was discovered that one of them almost died because the condom burst while he was taking it out.

Woo, a 23-year-old, went to Bangkok, Thailand with three other people including Park, a 25-year-old, to make money by smuggling heroin. After they took 249 heroin condoms (total 1.3kg) from a Taiwan supplier, they swallowed the condoms or inserted into their rectums.

It was a life risking adventure. Yoon, a 22-year-old, who swallowed 114 heroin condoms (590g) arrived in Taiwan. The condom burst in his stomach while he was taking them out and he fell into a coma. Yoon was taken to the hospital, was arrested due to the doctor reporting the X-ray to the police.

Another 21-year-old, Kim, had 94 heroin condoms (490g) in his stomach, lost contact in Bangkok and his fate is unknown. Woo and Park finished moving successfully but they were arrested on their return to Korea.

According to Seoul Central Prosecutor’s Office Drug Crime Investigation (Chief Prosecutor Youngjin Kim) announced that Woo and Park were charged with smuggling 442 million won worth of heroin. Prosecutors said that they are on the track of Kim, who is still at large. They interrogated Woo on how he was hired to work for the Taiwanese drug dealer.

A prosecutor said that the smugglers involved in the case were living on state subsidies. “It is shocking that they smuggled drugs for about only 1.5 million won to 5.3 million won each person,” he added.

The First Prize Song of the Campus Music Festival, Plagiarism?

The first prize song of the Campus Music Festival has drawn suspicion that it was copied from Korean singer's song.

Last September 25, the 33th MBC Campus Music Festival(MBC대학가요제) took place at Incheon University. Alex and Hyori Lee acted as MCs, who are famous singers in Korea. There were many judges including composers, musicians, and a producer and some singers who performed to celebrate opening of the festival. 13 teams could go into the finals and had performances on the day.

After they had a keen competition, Ewha Woman’s University team was awarded the first prize at the contest. This team is composed of two women, one is vocal who composed and wrote a song, another is pianist. They were so thrilled that shed tears constantly.

The title of the first prize song is "군계무학". It stemmed from "군계일학", which means the sun among inferior lights. The vocal said, "In these days, many people in their twenties can't show their individuality because they are facing the worst job markets. Thus, I make the music "군계무학" which means there is no outstanding figure." She criticized the youth without individuality in this song. Here are some lyrics of the song.

However, unfortunately, some netizens are arguing that the song was copied from Korean singer Leessang's "A clown". All participants passed the numerous preliminary contests and there were a lot of judges who are present musicians. Also, the proceedings of the marking were made public. In the course of screening, there was no suspicion of plagiarism, so producers of this festival are being upset by the doubt.

A music program producer said that there can be similar atmosphere music and felt sorry for the reality that many people easily made a plagiarism suspicion to songs paid attention.

On the other hand, a manager of Leessang said, "We are now in America for performance, we couldn't see the festival. So we can't say about the problem yet."

We need to watch the problem continuously. I hope that this suspicion is not true.

Assembly becomes a bad joke

The South Korean National Assembly has become the laughingstock of the world. To all appearances, we are an uncivilized nation because it has no idea what democracy and majority rule are all about. The BBC, The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal have all covered South Korean politicians engaging in fist fights.

The central cause of this problem is neglect of the democratic process. Legislators were blocked from entering the Assembly. Outside organizations broke into the National Assembly. Legislators who were present were physically impeded from voting on bills. In light of this disgrace, for anyone to question the legality of the bills passage is ludicrous.

Democratic Party members say they will step down from their legislative seats and fight from outside the Assembly. The National Assembly speaker should agree. Even within the party, there are opposing voices that urge against any political circus. The Grand National Party plans to form a task force on the National Assembly to study ways to prevent the disruption of the legislature. But no task force can guarantee that.

The brawl at the National Assembly wasn't due to the lack of a system. Answers can be easily found in the foreign media s coverage. In its editorial yesterday, the Wall Street Journal wrote that Korea s focus on political consensus has made it difficult for the ruling party to implement its platform over Democratic objections. To outsiders, majority rule is the logical choice. This time, consensus was emphasized more than was necessary.

At the root of democracy is majority rule. Respecting consensus is merely a noble trait of Korean politics that has been added. If we can make good use of it, we can compensate for flaws in parliamentary democracy. But we should never forget the basics and become the butt of jokes around the globe.

As an early application to universities begins, many parents’ screaming gets loudly. If one pay for the fee to apply some universities, it’s over hundreds of thousands won easily. The reason why ‘the Department of the Education Science Technology(교육과학기술부)’ started to find alternative plans in time was that the discuss related to the application fee was about to bomb. The Department of the Study(교과부) said that they will reveal the details of income and disbursement by amending the special law of the uncovering information regarding Education Institute at the end of this year. It is good to hear and I hope that the unreasonable application fee will be adjusted to a better one.

Nevertheless that is not enough because many companies don’t take any application fee when they hire new employees, rather most of them give appliers transportation fee. However, I wonder why universities charge the appliers for the money. Last about the end of may, they composed with women from twenties to fifties and their children have settled in to this place. “열린여성센터” that opened at Yongsan-gu in April 2004 have new nest because social organization and private people contribute money to relieving women.

“houeseworming” that was opened at 7:00 pm,18 to express gratitude people who help to get a this nest.

Mrs. Soe, working at “열린복지” of social welfare organ and have consultation with homeless women, thought “I hope to make place where homeless women take a rest” So she opened shelter in nearby Seoul station. However they had trouble with heating bills.

Mrs soe held small classic concert, which was intended to raise funds. And community chest support 100 million won of Korea’ money. So they have new nest.

Women lived in this place are drive out of house because of home violence, poverty and mental disease.

This place gives mental and emotional support to women in need. But facilities for homeless women are insufficient. The home less people remains with anxiety and fear. They need everyone’s help.

Japanese broadcasting institution broadcast 우스이요시토(臼井儀人, 51) who author of "Crayon Shin Chan" seemed that he is gone.

According to Kyoto broadcasting, police reported that they found preassuming his corpse in Mt.아라후네(sea level 1422m) september 19.

우스이 told his family " I'll go up Mt.아라후네" and disappeared.
His family did a report of disappearance since they can't contacted with him september 11.

The police reported that the corpse may be expected him.
That is located a 200m high cliff and was found by the climber.
However, it is difficult to bring the corpse because of him in a precipitous cliff.

I never have read this book to tell the truth. However, I have heard a lot of good things about this book from my friends who already read this book. So, I could guess the reason of success of this book based on what I have heard.

First of all, the title is attractive. The Korean tend to be choked with sorrow by just hearing the word 'Mom' because Mom is the symbol of sacrifice for their children. So. this novel easily appeal to readers by dealing with inner and outer aspects of mother from start to end

The Second, trend and timing is good. As you know, nowaday, economics condition is not good. That is why, many people seem to want to be consoled by 'Mom'. So, this book have been stimulating reader to susceptibility.

The last, Author Shin strive to promote his book by steadily having a lecture, public reading and book review events all over the country for a long time. Even Shin is planning to meet foreign reader in 10 countries

The book is one of a good way to reach the world we didn't know. I believe this book serve as a momentum to break the ice in difficult situation of publishing world. I hope other books, which are loved from reader are also published like this book

At about 7:40 AM, on 17th September, S girls-high school in Seongnamdong JungwonGu Seongnam, 2 students from the school got crashed by a dump truck on the road in front of their school. Owing to this accident, one girl died instantly, and the other got badly injured.

The cause of the accident is presumed to be the defect of the brake device of a dump truck which was moving dirt from the cafeteria construction area of S girls-high school. The police looked into the exact cause of the accident through the truck driver and witnesses.

Meanwhile, the netizens are demanding the school for an explanation as to why they carried out construction work when students were attending school. The accident named ‘S girls-high school student’s accident’ took the 1st ranking in some portal sites that day, and it still ranks as one of the top issues an one portal site at this time, two days after the crash. There is difficulty in accessing the school webpage.

Many candidates are frustrated by upcoming changes to teacher certification process and say, “This is my last attempt.” Competition to fill limited space of teachers is fiercer each year.

While waiting for the announcement about the new changes to the examination for Seoul secondary schools teacher in 2010, Mr. Park (28), who graduated from a postgraduate school of education in 2007, feels anxious.
Mr. Park, who has tried for many years to be a math teacher, is considering this year his final shot not only because every year competition has become fiercer but also because of the way selection is changing.

Mr. Park who attends a teacher preparatory academy in Noryangjin, in Seoul, after failing the test last year, says with a deep sigh, “Becoming a teacher is getting harder and harder.”
The gate to becoming a teacher is getting narrower and narrower like the eye of a needle.
Partly, the problem is the decrease in the number of students nationawide, so new teacher appointment is becoming smaller too.
To be matters worse, beginning next year, the way of the teacher appointment will change again. Therefore, the candidates are hanging their heads in despair and anxiety.

Norangjin in Seoul is a town where a lot of teacher examination prep academics are swarmed.
A person passing by can be easily see advertisement fliers saying, “This is your last chance before the change,” and, “our academy is your shortcut to finally pass the test.”
In some academies, prep classes that train students for teach-back demonstrations have already begun, even though they were scheduled to begin next year.

Ms. Kim who is an undergraduate at Seoul National University of Education says,
“It is very difficult to adapt to the frequent changes in teacher examination.”
The additional requirement of a teach-back demonstration is too burdensome for candidates. In the future, it might as well change again.”
A person familiar with teacher prep-academies says, “It is too burdensome to ask the candidates who are not yet teachers to demonstrate practical experience in teaching.”

The competitive ratio of the examination for the appointment of middle school teachers, for example, was only 3.7 to 1 (candidate to appointees) in 2002, but hit a record high last year at 26.1 to 1, increasing sharply as follows: 7 to 1 by 2003, 10.7 to 1 by 2004, and 15.3 to 1 in 2005.
The appointment of elementary school teachers has also seen fiercer competition, from 0.91 to 1 in 2003 to 1.89 to 1 in 2009.

A person familiar with the Ministry of education and science and Technology said, “The competition ratio is higher because of a recent freeze in the hiring of teaching staff nationwide.” They are considering various programs to lower the competition rate, such as by merging or even abolishing certain education universities, or lowering the limit on the number of education colleges.
